About me
Jessicca Shaffer has been a STEM Educator at Longmont Estates Elementary in St. Vrain for nine years. In her role, she has worked with classroom teachers to bring more STEM learning into their classrooms, and is a STEM specialist at her school. She sees students in grades PreK-5 each week. Along with teaching the engineering design process, and incorporating math and science topics, Jessicca has built a computer science strand for each grade level based on CSTA standards. Preschoolers start with sequencing and drag and drop lessons, and 5th graders learn to code using a modified Java Script (Bitsbox). Each year students build on their previous skills and gain confidence in their CS skills.
